Campbell High Senior Andrea Cooper was named one of Cobb’s STAR Students at the STAR banquet on Feb. 11 in Marietta.
Each STAR student also selected a STAR teacher who inspired them during their high school experience to attend the banquet and be recognized alongside them.

At Campbell High School Andrea Cooper named her Spanish teacher, Melyn Roberson.
She is the daughter of Hans and Sherry Cooper of Kennesaw. She hopes to attend Yale or Columbia and major in Chinese on an ROTC scholarship. She has participated in Model UN, Habitat for Humanity and volunteers at Zoo Atlanta.
Miss Cooper will join three other seniors from Cobb and Marietta schools at the state STAR competition in Cumming, March 15.
At Cumberland Christian Bria Williams named her third grade teacher, Rhonwyn Kendrick.
Miss Williams is the daughter of Michelle Williams of Smyrna. She hopes to attend Mercer or the University of Georgia and major in Physical Therapy. She plays volleyball, basketball and soccer and is a member of student government and Beta Club. She tied with Daniel LeMay.
At Whitefield Academy there was a tie. Emily DeMoss named Jesse Breite STAR teacher and Caroline Langella named Rebecca Brown.
Miss DeMoss hopes to attend Davidson or University of South Carolina to study child psychology. She is the Senior Class Vice President. She is the daughter of Debbie and Phillip DeMoss of Atlanta.
Miss Langella is the daughter of Jill and Mike Langella of Mableton. She hopes to attend the University of Southern California, UCLA or New York University.
At South Cobb High School Maddie Harris named her AP History teacher Andrew Cole. Miss Harris is the daughter of Carol and Benjie Fleming of Powder Springs. She has been accepted at Georgia Tech where she will study physics. She is the president of the Health Occupations Studies Association and a member of the Robotics team.
At Pebblebrook High School Madeline Martin named her acting teacher Robert Adams. She is the daughter of Andrea Martin of Kennesaw. She hopes to attend the University of California and Santa Barbara to study acting. She has been a member of the performing company for three years, the Improv Club, Faith & Action and Vocal Choir.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia’s outstanding high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development.
To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on the test on the three-part SAT taken through the November test date of their senior year and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. The local STAR recognition banquet was held Feb. 11 in Marietta, sponsored by the Metro Marietta Kiwanis Club.
