Are you a grandparent parenting or helping to parent your grandchildren? Could you use some encouragement, new ideas, practical help, or prayer? Wouldn’t it be great if you had a support group designed just for you?
A Grandparents As Parents (GAP) group is being organized in the South Cobb area to meet this need. “Our home is filled with the laughter, joy, and tears that two young grandchildren bring when they come to live with you. And really being there for them is more than we can handle without support,” says local pastor Dave Pearce.
So Pastor Pearce decided to start a GAP group. The group will have its initial meeting on May 7 at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be at Austell Presbyterian Church (5895 Love Street in Austell). You can find more information about the group at www. austellpres.org or by calling the church office at 770-948-2822.
The group will not be a prayer group or bible study, but a support group. “ We will look to God for strength and pray for one another, but all will be welcome, even the non-religious.” Pastor Pearce continues. The group will focus on sharing encouragement, ideas, and practical help.
