Keep Smyrna Beautiful Wins State Award

AnnKirkKeep Smyrna Beautiful won top state honors at the 34th Annual Keep Georgia Beautiful Awards Luncheon in November held at the Emory Conference Center Hotel.  The annual program honors individuals and organizations working to improve Georgia’s environment.

The 2012 Affiliate Award was given to Keep Smyrna Beautiful for its comprehensive environmental impact organizing programs supporting litter prevention, beautification and community improvement, waste reduction and recycling.  Volunteers champion the organization’s efforts under the leadership of the Keep Smyrna Beautiful Board of Directors and City of Smyrna KSB Director Ann Kirk and Assistant Director Virginia Davis.

Keep Smyrna Beautiful, Inc. also received the 2012 Litter Prevention award for its work in coordinating efforts for Keep America Beautiful’s “LitteringIsWrongToo.org” campaign as well as sustainable programs such as Adopt-a-Mile, Adopt-a-Stream, Adopt-a-Trail, litter-free events at City sponsored festivals and concerts, and participation in the Rivers Alive event.
