SMYRNA JONQUIL FESTIVAL SET FOR APRIL 25 AND 26
As the jonquils bloom and the weather turns warm, the city of Smyrna is ready to celebrate spring. The city’s Jonquil Festival has something for every member of the family with more than 175 Arts & Crafts booths, 20 food booths, an entertainment stage, multiple beer gardens, and a variety of children’s activities.
This year’s Jonquil Festival will be held in and around Smyrna’s City Hall and the Market Village for two days: Saturday April 25 and Sunday April 26. On Saturday; April 26, the events run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Sunday the event runs from noon to 5 p.m.
For those who enjoy shopping, there is a vast array of items including jewelry, hand-crafted wooden items, and much more. There are food booths for different tastes. Artisans from all over the southeast feature their own hand-made crafts, paintings, clothing, furniture, jewelry and much more. The festival foods include: cotton candy, candy apples, corn dogs, hand-dipped ice cream, snow cones, polish sausage, chicken sandwiches, and BBQ. The huge interactive children’s area includes big and small inflatable activities, sand art, and more.

POWDER SPRINGS BROWN BAG CONCERTS
Powder Springs’ ‘Brown Bag Concert Series’ resumes this April. The midday concerts, free and open to the public, on Thursdays in April with a slate of solo artists and groups performing across the genres of country, jazz and rock ’n’ roll.
Residents and visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy the free concerts emanating from Thurman Springs Park’s amphitheater from noon to 1:30 p.m. each Thursday in April.
Bringing his bass guitar and smooth sounds to our audience April 16 will be Wildmann, who has entertained audiences at several past events at Thurman Springs Park.
Known for performing a dynamic range of music from the 1970s through to today, acoustic guitarist Scotty Paulk is set to perform April 23.
Concluding the series on April 30 will be a group that’s been no stranger to our Brown Bag series, Incentive, which will once again perform popular country and rock hits from the past.

2026 FRIENDS OF LIBRARY LECTURES WILL CELEBRATE AMERICA’S 250TH
Several of the lectures at the Smyrna library in 2026 will celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial (America250) by profiling Founding Fathers and Mothers of our state and country. All lectures will take place in the library meeting room.
On Sunday, April 12 from 3 -4 p.m., Dr. William Marchione, retired professor of history, lecturer, oral historian and the author of “A Brief History of Smyrna, Georgia.” will present “James Edward Oglethorpe: Georgia’s Founding Father.” Oglethorpe’s life and career, with its myriad twists and turns, is both fascinating and instructive, foreshadowing in many ways the complex history of the state he helped found.
On Sunday, May 3 from 3 – 4 p.m., Todd DeFeo, a member of the Friends of the Smyrna Library board and publisher/editor of Railfanning.org, will present the lecture “Transcontinental Railroad” highlighting how the national railroad network led to the adoption of a standard gauge, including the Western & Atlantic that passes through Smyrna.

PRIMARY VOTING BEGINS IN APRIL
Georgians will be back to the voting booths on May 19 for the 2026 primary for a variety of state-wide and local elections. This election is used by political parties to choose their nominees for the November General Election. It also includes nonpartisan offices, including many judges, where the actual winner is decided on that day.
Early voting begins on Monday, April 27 and continues to Friday, May 15. Georgia’s 2026 Primary is May 19, and the General Election is November 3. The ballots will include, among other offices, state representatives and senators, Governor, Lt. Governor, State Attorney General, Public Service Commission, US Congress, and one US Georgia Senate seat.

SMYRNA’S GARDEN TOUR COMING MAY 2
Keep Smyrna Beautiful’s Garden Tour returns on Saturday, May 2, offering self-guided exploration of five of Smyrna’s most stunning gardens. This year’s theme “Homegrown Habitats,” celebrates gardens that support pollinators while making our city a more beautiful place to live.
“Expect to see gardens that support pollinators and be inspired to create the same in your yard,” says Garden Tour Committee Chair Dawn McLoughlin. “The five featured gardens range from a certified native garden, two well-established pollinator gardens, a bright and bountiful ornamental, and a well-designed pollinator garden growing within an HOA.”
Proceeds from the Smyrna Garden Tour support litter cleanups, environmental education, community events, and more. As Keep Smyrna Beautiful’s largest annual fundraiser, this event plays a vital role in sustaining local beautification efforts.
Guests at the Reed House can also browse a public plant sale, featuring a variety of perennials and annuals for sale, including a large selection of native plants.

JONQUIL CITY JOG SET FOR MAY 2
Lace up your sneakers and join us for the Jonquil City Jog on Saturday, May 2, beginning at 8 a.m. This jog features a 5K at 8 a.m., a 1-mile at approximately 9 a.m. with the Tot Trot to follow.
The race will begin at Smyrna City Hall in downtown Smyrna. As one of the best community races in the Metro Atlanta area, the Jonquil City Jog consistently draws a great crowd for this flat, fast and family-friendly course. Register here today! Proceeds will benefit the Campbell High School Educational Foundation, Inc. and Support Smyrna. The Campbell High School Educational Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides financial and community support to Campbell High School.

TASTE OF MABLETON COMING MAY 2
The 2026 Taste of Mableton takes place at the Mable House Complex and features the flavors, people, artisans, and culture that makes the City of Mableton unique. The event features a parade, a kids zone, live music, performances, and more.
Come out on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and try all things Mableton – additional events include Tours and Displays, Pillars of Mableton, Health & Wellness Village, Arts & Crafts Exhibits, Public Safety Zone, Service Row, DJ and Dancing, Education Pavilion, Faith Village, Civic Circle, All Day Concert at the Amphitheatre, Family Fun Zone, The Marketplace, and Foodies Court.
The festival starts at 9 a.m. with a parade that starts at Floyd Middle School and ends at the Mable House Complex. Following the parade is the Battle of the Bands, featuring the Pebblebrook High School Mighty Marching Machine, the South Cobb High School Blue Eagle Marching Band, and The Osborne Red Sea of Sound.
Admission is free. The Taste pf Mableton is set for the Mable House Complex, 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.
