EAGLE SCOUT SERVES COMMUNITY THROUGH PROJECT
Roderick Russell-Tutty (“Rory”), a dedicated member of Scouting America’s Troop 22, has successfully completed his Eagle Scout project, showcasing leadership and a commitment to serving the community. Rory organized a team of Scouts and adult volunteers to construct two “blessing boxes”— accessible pantries designed to provide essential items to those in need.
Under his guidance, the group not only built the boxes but also coordinated efforts to fill them with food, hygiene supplies, and other necessities. Every single Scout in Troop 22 contributed to this important project.
The blessing boxes were delivered to two local organizations: U First (https://projectufirst.org/) who placed the box at Scott Elementary School in Atlanta, and VFW Post 2681 in Marietta. These locations were selected to ensure the resources reach community members who can benefit most from the initiative. Rory’s project reflects the Scout values of service, teamwork, and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on the area.
Troop 22, chartered by St. Benedict’s Episcopal School in Smyrna meets every Sunday at 4 p.m. to foster leadership, character development, and service among its members. The Troop is proud to support Rory in his quest to achieve the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting, earned through years of dedicated Scouting and the completion of a significant community service project.

FRIENDS OF SMYRNA LIBRARY PRESENTATION
The Friends of Smyrna Library are presenting Mrs. Lincoln: The “First” First Lady starring Laura F. Keyes, as Mary Todd Lincoln. This educational performance and fundraiser, celebrating the nonprofit group’s 35th anniversary, will be held at the Smyrna Community Center on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. The show includes an Afternoon Tea service. This is a ticketed event ($35) with limited seating.
Mary Todd Lincoln lived a life filled with triumphs and tragedies, but few people know her story. Now, librarian Laura F. Keyes shares Mary’s story in an entertaining and educational program entitled Mrs. Lincoln: The “First” First Lady, focusing on the life and losses of Mrs. Lincoln, set on April 14, 1865.
This program depicts an extraordinarily important time in our nation’s history from a point of view that is not often explored. Learn how Mary Lincoln influenced monumental events in her lifetime and why her story is still relevant today.

LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION FORUM SET FOR APRIL
The 2025 Cobb County Legislative Delegation Forum will be held on April 22 in Marietta. This event is a rare opportunity for the Cobb senior community to hear important information and engage directly with their state legislators. This forum is jointly sponsored by the Senior Citizens Council of Cobb County and Cobb County Senior Services. The forum is being held on Tuesday, April 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Senior Wellness Center, 1150 Powder Springs Street, Marietta.
Every Georgia house representative and senator serving a Cobb County district has been invited to participate. All persons who attend will leave the forum knowing more about which critical issues affecting seniors were addressed in the most recent legislative session at the Gold Dome.

EGG DROP AFTER EASTER SUNDAY SERVICE
“Come celebrate the resurrection with Life Church Smyrna. During Life Church’s Easter service, all kids in Kids LIFE, will be singing the finale song. There will be prizes given away during service. Following the 10 a.m. service, members will be dropping eggs and candy with the help of their friends from the Smyrna Fire Department.
Bring your Easter basket to collect as many eggs and as much candy as you can! If able to donate candy, there will be a candy basket in the foyer. Come watch the eggs fall from the Fire Truck!”

CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVERLANDS HOSTED RIVER CLEANUP
Chattahoochee Riverlands hosted while the Archer Western Construction-Walshe Group sponsored the Saturday morning river cleanup. More than 40 volunteers from The Friends of Bolton Park, Connect the Comet, Mableton City Councilwoman Patricia Auch, Lions Club, Team Noodle and nature lovers came together to split into teams covering Bolton Park, the Fulton County side of the Chattahoochee and Cobb County side of the Chattahoochee.
The Cobb County side removed over 95 bags and lots of heavy debris. It was estimated around 5,000 pounds of litter was removed from the Cobb County side of the Chattahoochee; and guessing that the Fulton County side of the Chattahoochee will be at least 3,000 pounds. The volunteers accomplished a lot in just three hours.
The group appreciates Keep Cobb Beautiful for lending us supplies and removing the bags from the Cobb County side of the Chattahoochee River. They are grateful to the Starbucks at the Bolton Road/Marieta Blvd intersection for letting them use their parking lot and furnishing the group with their delicious coffee. They especially appreciate MD Jim Moulton for organizing this event. None of this would have been possible without his hard work.

26 – 27: JONQUIL FESTIVAL. The Spring Jonquil Festival is located on the beautiful Village Green in downtown Smyrna. There will be 150 arts & crafts booths, food booths, a beer garden, and plenty of children’s activities. The show will also feature a local entertainment stage.

3: SMYRNA GARDEN TOUR. The Smyrna Garden Tour is back on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticketholders enjoy a self-guided tour of five Smyrna gardens and refreshments the Reed House.
