COBB CELEBRATES AMERICA’S 250TH TONIGHT

Cobb County PARKS invites residents and visitors to join Cobb Celebrates 250, a free community celebration honoring the 250th anniversary of American independence on Friday, June 26, from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Jim R. Miller Park, located at 2245 Callaway Road SW in Marietta.

As communities across the nation commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Cobb County is inviting residents to come together for an evening of patriotism, entertainment, and community spirit. The event will feature live entertainment, family-friendly activities, food vendors, and a patriotic drone show celebrating this historic milestone.

“America’s 250th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, and recognize the generations of Americans who have helped shape our communities,” said Cobb County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Lisa Cupid. “Cobb Celebrates 250 is a chance for residents to come together, honor our shared heritage, and create new memories as we look toward the future.”

As part of Cobb’s celebration of America’s semiquincentennial, patriotic photo banners have been installed throughout county facilities, parks, libraries, senior centers, and more. Residents are encouraged to snap a photo with the banners and share it on social media using the hashtag #Cobb250.

As the United States approaches the country’s Semiquincentennial, the City of Smyrna invites everyone to join in a moment of community tribute. The Semiquincentennial celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

On the morning of July 1st, Smyrna will be installing a 250-flag memorial to mark our nation’s 250th birthday.

POWDER SPRINGS TO CELEBRATE JULY 4TH 

The City of Powder Springs is presenting its annual free-to-the-public 4th of July Celebration with a live band, DJ, food vendors and a fabulous fireworks show to conclude the evening.
 
To be held downtown and within Thurman Springs Park (4485 Pineview Drive), festivities begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 4, with the fireworks show firing up around 9:30 p.m. The pyrotechnics will launch from Powder Springs Park, giving attendees downtown and from many other parts of the city the chance to see the spectacular sparks The event concludes at 10 p.m.
 
Kicking off the evening’s entertainment at 6 p.m. will be DJ Que, who previously provided an excellent soundtrack throughout the 2026 Powder Springs Seafood Festival between the three-day event’s amphitheater stage performers. Taking the stage at 7 p.m. will be the 96K Band, a group that wowed crowds at the city’s 2025 Seafood Festival.
 
Ten food trucks will be on site selling their wares to satisfy attendees’ food and drink needs. Positioned in Thurman Springs Park will be a variety of backyard-style games such as cornhole.
 
Free and paid parking options will be available. Paid premier parking staffed by Cornerstone Parking attendants will be at several downtown locations, with cash or card accepted. Free public parking areas near downtown include the Brownsville Road lot across from Powder Springs Park, and the First Baptist Church and First United Methodist Church parking lots. (Powder Springs Park will be closed for firework setup.)
     
Handicap parking for those with a placard or tag will be available at Jackson Way and Oakview Drive.

CELEBRATE WITH PARADE & FIREWORKS

Come out and celebrate America’s independence as the City of Marietta hosts the Fourth in the Park celebration beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday July 4th. The Independence Day celebration begins with the Marietta Freedom Parade that starts at Roswell Street Baptist Church and continues west on Roswell Street, then north on East Park Square past Glover Park, then down Cherokee Street, and ends at North Marietta Parkway. 

The Fourth of July parade features marching units from local bands, civic organizations, beauty pageant queens, scouts, local businesses of all types, and much more. After the parade there will be free live concerts and entertainment, food, arts and crafts, carnival games, and of course fireworks. 

The parade spans a 1.5-mile route and features more than two thousand participants in more than one hundred entries, and there will be an estimated thirty thousand people in attendance. 

Watch as local businesses, civic organizations, beauty queens, bands, scouts, National Guard, and numerous floats participate and compete for prizes based on design, color, theme, appearance, originality, and riders and costumes. 
The Arts and Crafts show features vendors showcasing a wide variety of products. The vendors will be open from 10 am to 9 pm. Food will be available from a variety of concessions beginning at 10 a.m. Marietta Square restaurants will also be open for business.

JULY MARQUEE MONDAY SPEAKER IS DR. TUTTEROW

Join the Cobb Chamber for the July 13th Marquee Monday as they welcome one of Georgia’s leading financial voices, Dr. Roger Tutterow, for an insightful look at the market trends shaping our business community and beyond.

As businesses continue to navigate a rapidly evolving landscape, Dr. Tutterow will provide valuable analysis of local, state, and national indicators — helping business leaders better understand the forces influencing growth, investment, workforce development, and overall performance.

Dr. Tutterow serves as Professor of Economics and the Henssler Financial Endowed Chair at Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business, where he also directs the Econometric Center. Widely recognized for his expertise in forecasting and public policy, he has advised multiple Georgia governors and is frequently featured in national media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Bloomberg Television, NPR, and The New York Times.

Food Truck Tuesdays – 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Tuesday through September 22 (weather permitting), except the week of July 4 and the week of Labor Day. This event is the best Food Truck event series around! Enjoy the offerings from a weekly gathering of quality mobile gourmet trucks and a bit of sweet mixed in and music, too.

An assortment of fabulous food trucks will gather in the lower parking spaces adjacent to the playground and mini amphitheater at Taylor-Brawner Park beginning at 5 p.m. for your enjoyment.

Parking: Please make plans to park after business hours at South State Bank, 3016 Atlanta Road. and at the Historic Reed House, 3080 Atlanta Road. Parking is available at Taylor-Brawner Park, 3180 Atlanta Road, but fills up early and is monitored by security once full. 
Guests may be asked to wait for spaces to open or motioned to proceed down Atlanta Road to the approved parking locations at South State Bank and the Reed House. Other adjacent options are not guaranteed. Please obey Police/Staff directions.

Handicap Parking spaces may be found at the entrance of Taylor-Brawner House (3182 Atlanta Road) while available – expect security at the entrance or seek marked spaces at Brawner Hall (3180 Atlanta Road) while available. These spaces tend to fill early.

(No copy accepted by phone) and received prior to our deadline of the 23rd of each month. Publication is in the first week of the following month. We also accept credit card payment.
