TASTE OF MABLETON POSTPONED UNTIL AUGUST

A note from the officials at the Mableton Improvement Coalition: “We want to offer a heartfelt apology for the rescheduling of this year’s Taste of Mableton. Deciding to postpone an event of this scale was not easy, and by Friday at noon—faced with a 70% rain forecast we chose to reschedule to protect our vendors, performers, and parade participants

Mother Nature had other plans, and as many of you saw, Saturday turned into a gorgeous day. While we wish we could have predicted the 9 a.m. turnaround, we are now focusing all that energy into making our rescheduled date even better. Mark your calendars for August 29th.

MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION SET FOR SMYRNA

Smyrna, Georgia’s classic annual Memorial Day ceremony is Monday, May 25, at 9:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 2800 King Street, Smyrna. The immensely popular event and parking are free and beloved by people of all ages.

Memorial Day honors all who have served in the US armed forces, and, above all, those who died in the line of duty. This year’s theme features the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence.

The event costars some of America’s future military leaders, namely the perfect precision of the impressive Campbell High School Army JROTC Honor Guard. You can look forward to the ceremonial playing of Taps, beautiful patriotic music, a memorial wreath laying ceremony, recognition of all Veterans, and vintage military vehicles and equipment.

Post-ceremony, come meet local veterans, support the American Legion and enjoy a delicious $19 BBQ lunch at the American Legion, 160 Legion Drive, Smyrna, Georgia.

If there’s bad weather, the Smyrna Memorial Day ceremony will be inside the Smyrna Community Center. Sponsors include the City of Smyrna, the Smyrna Veterans Committee and American Legion Post 160.
