The Shops at Belmont announced its first tenants, including a sports tavern, according to developer Jack Halpern.
Whitehall Tavern, a popular Buckhead restaurant and sports tavern, has signed a lease to open a location in the new mixed-use Belmont development by early 2016.
Whitehall Tavern will be the first restaurant in the Smyrna area with a rooftop patio, something
Whitehall co-owners Bret Bauer and Steve Shamatta say will have a more modern feel than the current location in Peachtree Battle Shopping Center. The 5,200-square-foot interior space of the tavern will have a 1,200-square-foot rooftop patio, which will be available for private events, and an 1,100-square-foot ground-level patio.
“Whitehall Tavern is an excellent fit for Belmont, providing a great place for people in the neighborhood to eat, drink and get together,” said John Brozovic, Regional Director of Leasing with Halpern Enterprises.
“Young families are flocking to Smyrna,” said Whitehall’s Shamatta, who lives three minutes from Belmont. Added Bauer: “Belmont will be like a community within a community, with a high level of walkability for residents of the adjoining neighborhoods.”
The 48-acre mixed us development also includes Alta at Belmont, with 274 luxury apartments, and Village of Belmont with 153 single-family homes.
The Shops at Belmont has eight leases signed and another four letters of intent for space in the 48,000 square feet of retail space. Other leases include a Mexican Restaurant, a day spa and a medical facility. Additional phases will triple the space for restaurants and shops.
Halpern said that Belmont’s focus is on quality, local entrepreneurs, rather than national chains.
