A $4.6 million renovation of WellStar Cobb Hospital is slated to be complete in January.
By revitalizing the Women’s Center, mothers will have a new, welcoming atmosphere to bring babies into the world.
Construction included a complete overhaul of 70 patient rooms designated for labor and delivery, as well as mother/baby rooms for post-delivery. With new bathrooms, tile, flooring, décor, the renovation transforms the look and feel of a patient room, changing perceptions of what a hospital room is supposed to look like. The serene setting will put mothers at ease as they expand their families.
Hospital officials say this is one more example of how WellStar Cobb Hospital is continuing to improve the patient experience.
“WellStar Cobb Hospital has long been a trusted partner in our community,” said Kem Mullins, president of WellStar Cobb Hospital. “We are in the business of providing world-class care for our patients. By renovating the Women’s Center, we are creating a peaceful environment that is conducive to celebrating new life.”
Every year, more than 3,600 babies are delivered at WellStar Cobb Hospital, in Austell. Beyond labor and delivery, Cobb Hospital offers a full range of women’s services for all stages of life—from gynecological to prenatal care for younger women and bone density testing for older women.
“With WellStar, you can feel confident you’re getting more than the highest quality medical care,” said Mullins. “You’re also getting up-to-date information, real-life education, compassionate support and reassurance, in a warm and supportive setting.”
