Community Invited to Mableton Day

MD June B 2015 027The 11th Annual Mableton Day community celebration is set for May 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mable House Complex, 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.

It’s a time to bring the community together to have some fun, celebrate the end of the school year, and raise funds to help build or expand non-profit programs that enrich our South Cobb County community.

The day is packed with fun things to do for the whole family. The day begins with the Mableton 5K and Mableton Jr. Fun Run, and then continues with a Car Cruise-in, Entertainment, Arts and Crafts, vendor booths, food, Kids Corner and more. Come out and celebrate with us. Meet your neighbors. Learn more about your community.

The Mableton 5K has become a signature event for Mableton Day, with the race beginning and ending at the Mable House Complex, followed by the Mableton Jr. Fun Run for younger children, their parents, and adults who want to complete a one mile run or walk.

Run or walk the Mableton Day 5K at 8 a.m. and stick around for the full Mableton Day festivities, including Mableton Day Jr. Fun Run at 9 a.m. Register at Mabletonday.com.

Artists from the South Cobb Arts Alliance and other talented folks will be demonstrating their skills and talking with you during Mableton Day. You can watch a potter turn a lump of clay into a cup or bowl or see a beautiful watercolor emerge from the skilled strokes of a paint brush. Come visit the Mable House for tours of the historic home of the family that gave its name to our town.

Entertainment for Mableton Day is full of experienced professional, local and new entertainment, school performances, and special guests. The schedule includes a Salute to the Armed Forces, local awards, and ends with the Community Spirit Awards and Trophy ceremony. Past Mableton Day crowds have enjoyed live bands, cheerleaders, solo performances, Chinese dancers, cloggers, ballet, and melodies of jazz, contemporary, hip hop, country, blues and much more.
