A Candidates Forum, featuring all candidates seeking office in the Nov. 3 Smyrna city elections will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Smyrna Community Center.
The event is sponsored by the Smyrna Business Association and will be moderated by Allan and Cathy Lipsett, publishers of The Bright Side newspaper.
Questions can be submitted in advance at the door that night or by email at SmyrnaBusinsee.org. All questions must be in writing.
In the Mayor’s race, two candidates will challenge incumbent Mayor Max Bacon, Ward 6 Councilman Wade Lnenicka and Alex Backry.
In the Council Ward 1 race incumbent and real-estate agent Melleny Pritchett is challenged by Derek Norton, a government affairs lobbyist.
Incumbent Ward 2 Councilwoman Andrea Blustein is unopposed.
Teri Anulewicz, incumbent in Ward 3, is challenged by “Bentley” Branson Bentley.
In Council Ward 4, incumbent Charles “Corky” Welch is challenged by Alan Dunn.
Ward 5 incumbent Susan Wilkinson is challenged by Jerry Jacobs.
In an open race in Ward 6 Tara Simon, owner of a local performing arts studio, will face former State Senator and business owner Doug Stoner.
In Ward 7 Ron Fennel, incumbent, is unopposed.
Advance voting will be held Oct. 12 – 30 at Cobb Elections, 736 Whitlock Ave., Marietta from 8 – 5, and Oct. 26 – 30 at Smyrna Community Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 200 Village Green Circle, Smyrna.
