Summer Season Brings Concerts

Smyrna Summer Concert Series

Smyrna has announced its summer concert series on the Village Green.

The Mustangs bringing their sound back to the Village Green on June 9 for a splash of the past and old favorites. Soulhound has played all over the Southeast and is a favorite at Atkins Park Tavern with their R&B, Soul & greasy Funk of the late sixties & seventies performing July 14.

Concerts are 7 – 10 p.m., except the Birthday celebration Aug. 4 at 6 p.m.

Banks & Shane help celebrate Smyrna’s Birthday each year and they’re back for the biggest hometown party again this year on Aug. 4. Smokey’s Farmland Band is new to the Smyrna stage this year, blending musical influences ranging from bluegrass to gypsy jazz to Cajun, creating a progressive sound they like to call ” Goodtime Eclectic Bluegrass.”
Celebrate the birth of Smyrna with family and friends. High-energy music, festival foods, birthday festivities, a giant birthday cake by McEntyre’s Bakery and a kids entertainment area and fireworks at the end add to the excitement.

Summer Candlelite Concert Series

The Randall Bramblett Band presents Jazz/Rock on June 16, as a part of the South Cobb Arts Alliance Summer Candlelite Concert Series 2012 free Concerts this season through October.

Blair Crimmins and the Hookers perform with their Blues/Ragtime/Gypsy Guitar sound on Aug. 18.

Kayla Taylor performs Traditional Jazz on Sept. 8 and Men In Blues playing the Funky Classic Rock & Roll, Soul, R&B, Funk, Blues, Oldies, and Country sound Oct. 6.

Parking and General Admission are free and tables of four are sold for $50 each or $225 for the season. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the concerts begin at 8:00pm. Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and beverages. This year concessions will be sold to benefit South Cobb Arts Alliance and other local non-profit organizations.

Jazz At Vinings Jubilee

Vinings Jubilee is “jazzing” up Thursday evenings this summer with a new Jubilee Jazz series that brings live music to the Tower Stage from 6 to 8 p.m. every Thursday in June.

Grab a bite to eat and sip on a cocktail on the patios of restaurants which overlook the stage.

The schedule includes: Mike Kelly on June 7; Memory Lane Jazz Ensemble on June 14; Sal Gentille on June 21 and Os Ossos on June 28.

Stroll through the boutiques and specialty shops and hang out with family and friends while jazz music fills the summer air. Specials and refreshments will be offered by select restaurants at Vinings Jubilee, and shops will stay open late for guests. For more information call 404-577-8686.

Jazz Flavors At The Mable House

SPC Enterprises Presents Jazz Flavors at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre on June 23 featuring Gritz and Jelly Butter, Julie Dexter, and Ed Jaxon and the Neo-Renaissance Orchestra.

The concert will be 6 – 10 p.m. and Tickets are $15 – $35 available through TicketMaster or Mable House Box Office. Proceeds benefit St. Paul of the Cross Church. For more information, call 404-696-6704 or the Mable House Box Office.
