Smyrna To Name Police Chief, Library Director

The City of Smyrna will name a new police chief and library director at the Jan. 22 city council meeting.

David Lee is the sole finalist for the position of City of Smyrna Police Chief pending approval by council. Lee currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Police for the City of Marietta.

In that role he oversees records; research and development; permits; accreditation; payroll; homeland security; training; property and evidence; courts; and fleet maintenance. He has served the Marietta Police Department for 27 years in uniform patrol, traffic enforcement, support services, the investigations division, and Community Outreach Unit.

Mary Wallace Moore as sole finalist for the position of City of Smyrna Library Director pending approval at the City Council. Ms. Moore currently serves as the Reference and Adult Services Manager for the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library in Huntsville, Ala.

She was recently named the Romance Writers of America’s Librarian of the Year of 2012. She used the  grant to put together programs for writers.

Stan Hook retired as police chief at the end of the year, as did Michael Seigler as library director.
